Pump Track Race SeriesA four race series starting March, 8 2026

RACE INFO

The event will be run as a four-round pump track time trial, with riders racing one at a time for a single timed lap per round. All starts are standing starts from a gate, and no pedaling is allowed—speed must be generated through pumping and body movement only.

Round 1 start order will be random or organizer-assigned, while Round 2, Round 3, and Round 4 start order will be determined by the results of the previous round. Riders may voluntarily withdraw after any round as times are established; completed times remain valid, but riders may not re-enter once withdrawn. Final results are based on each rider’s fastest single lap across all rounds. Pedaling, skipping features, or leaving the course will result in a DNF for that round.

Helmets are required, bikes must be non-motorized and in safe working condition, and all race officials’ decisions are final.

TRACK INFO

What began as a bold idea in 2021 is now one of Birmingham’s proudest mountain bike milestones. Birmingham Urban Mountain Pedalers (BUMP) spent years researching, advocating, and building partnerships to turn the vision of a world-class, inclusive skills park into reality at Oak Mountain State Park. After early design work, multiple funding attempts, and relentless momentum, the project reached its breakthrough in 2024 and officially opened in December 2025—creating a permanent, ride-ready space for riders of all ages and abilities. This pump track race celebrates that journey, the riding community it serves, and the partners who made it possible, proudly presented by BUMP, Shelby County, and sponsored by Sierra Nevada Brewing Co.

Pump track racing is fast, fun, and incredibly easy to watch. With one rider on course at a time, spectators get clear views of every lap—each pump, berm, and push to the line—without needing to move around the venue. The compact layout keeps the energy high while maintaining a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. This is a family-friendly event, with space for kids, parents, and friends to hang out, cheer riders on, and enjoy the park together. Good music, great people, and an overall laid-back community vibe make this a fun afternoon whether you’re racing, spectating, or just curious about the skills park.
